Hello Joburgers, The Course takes delight in a recent accolade for Best Restaurant Design at the 2018 Condé Nast House & Garden Gourmet Restaurant Awards — South Africa’s foremost award event recognising top talent in the local restaurant industry.
Design of the restaurant interior was guided by Philippe van der Merwe and Greg Gamble of Tonic Design, who drew on the interior architectural proportions and intimate mood of the classic Parisian brasserie but updated with modern detailing, a compelling colour palette and an unusual mix of materials.
To achieve this, Tonic developed a distinctive palette of warm tones—olive, ochre and russet—offset against a wash of pale blue Art Deco-inspired ribbed panelling and dramatically arched mirrors. Materials are seductive to the touch, with brass-edged marble table tops, chenille settees, velvet cushions and leather club seating inviting guests to linger beyond their lunch hour.
With these fine finishes and distinctive detailing, the restaurant interior sets the perfect stage for The Course to claim its title as Sandton’s most distinguished dining and drinks destination.
